Thank God I live in Canada...

Hey folks.

So....any news in the world of online poker?

Obviously, by now, everyone knows that laws have been passed that basically will make it difficult to people to play poker online in the US. Personally, I find it a bit amusing that the supposed "land of freedom and opportunity" who looks at China's dealing with Google as "corporate censorship" deciding to do the same thing....

In Canada, I don't think I have to worry about that (at least I don't think so). However, this now means that the poker landscape is going to change in a big way...and not for the better. This could be the equivalent of the "dot.com" bubble bursting 5 years ago.

It will be interesting to see how things proceed over the next few months. But let me say this. Can someone explain to me how the American government can be so corrupt with the passing of its laws? Only in America can someone take a proposed piece of legislation, attach it to a completely unrelated piece of legislation...and then pass it into law...that is the most stupid thing I ever heard of.

Piece of advice for you players out there. You have the midterm elections coming up. Find out who your local candidates are. Call their campaign office and ask them two questions:

1. What is their stance on online gaming/poker?
2. Would they support a revisiting of this bill and make adjustments or to remove it from law altogether?

Based on their answers, make your vote. If you don't ordinarily vote, get off your ass and do it this time. Start sending a message.....and make it loud!!!!!!!!!
