Great way to end the year!

Hey all (if anyone):

I had my last poker session for 2006 since I'm going back home for the holidays and won't be playing while I am there.

I played in a SNG and managed a third place finish. Playing tight in these things pays dividends. I parlayed my winnings in that and played in a tournament....

There was about 350 people and, at the end of the evening, I added a final table and a 9th place finish to my credit. I've been thinking back over the tournament and I can honestly say that I never had my money in with the worst hand except for the last one (and that was a coin flip)...and they all held up for once. Pretty cool. I was really shortstacked and pushed all-in with pocket 3's and was called by the 10-8 of diamonds. Two diamonds on the flop and another on the turn...and that was that.

This put me at my all-time bankroll high for the year and a great way to end it. See you in 2007!!

Playing well....and not earning much to show for it.

Hey all.

Well, I've wrapped up my VC Poker account for the year. Started with $10.00 and finished with.....$10.03 (LOL). My highest point with around $11.50 but I was down to less than $3 at one point. I use this account mostly for Omaha 8 play. I tried another tournament as well on this site. $2 buy in with about 450 people. I finished 152nd and only played in one hand. My pocket Q's were called by AJ of diamonds. Two diamonds on the flop and one on the turn and I was crippled.

That seems to be happening a lot recently. My last two sit-n-goes and this tournament have had me get my money (or most of it) in with the best hand and losing. That's life and seems to indicate that I'm making correct decisions...but it sucks quite frankly. Fortunately, my Omaha 8 cash game cut that loss in half.

I'll probably play one more time on my Royal Vegas account before taking two weeks off for Xmas vacation..then things are going to get a little more serious with my poker study....but I've finished up for the year so no complaints from me.

Been a while (LOL)

Geez, it has been a while since I put something here.

No, I haven't gone broke...but I have been about break even (or just a little up since last time). My biggest problem is that I make money, and then lose it in tournaments or other such things. However, my bankroll is healthy for the levels that I play in...so no worries there.

I was reading an online article about how Chris Ferguson made $20,000 with just an initial $1 investment. Basically, it involved going all-in preflop with big hands and such. So, I did what I said I wasn't going to do and sat down in a NLHE cash game. I sat down with $1 and walked away with about $3 dollars. The strategy seems to work....not sure if I would do it full time though.

I gave another shot at SNG's to see if I still have my touch. I played in four, cashed in 2 and only didn't cash in a third one when my pocket kings were cracked by pocket 10's when a third 10 appeared on the river. Seem to be okay there.

Overall, I'm still enjoy playing...just have to keep it as a way to pass the time and not to fill it. I tried playing some tournaments and just find that I can't take the time to concentrate on it for four hours or so....just don't have the time. I'll be sticking to cash games and SNG's and only play a tourney if I have the time to do it.

Have a good Xmas if I'm not back before then.
